Blowers acting up

Hi all! I don't know what's going on and hoping that someone here can shed some light.

My 2017 Trax's blowers keep acting up and burns resistors. it is only working on high before so I replaced the resistor. it worked for a couple of days then it happened again. now i got a resistor that gets it working on all speeds but it gets scary hot when on low setting!

Any tips before my dash melts?

The blower motor might be drawing to much power which can overheat resistors. Have you checked the motor or wiring for any signs of wear or damage?

have you check the wiring and connector to the resistor? you might want to do that

If you have replaced it recently, it could be a bad motor. Also a bad ground or corroded connectors could cause similar problems

Happened to a friend once, turns out there are small rock that got stuck in the blower motor fan cage. so you may also want to check it for debris like leaves, dirt, or even small objects too

Great advice all around. It really seems like the issue could either be a blower motor drawing too much power or something that's affecting the airflow. I'd suggest taking a look at the motor, wiring, and fan cage for any debris, just to be on the safe side. Hope you get it fixed before the dash starts getting too hot

That sounds exactly like what happened with my 2020 a while back.
I went through resistors before I finally figured out that the blower motor itself was drawing too much current, causing the resistors to burnt out!
I ended up replacing the blower motor and haven't had an issue since.
